Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Humber Real Estate Salesperson Program?

The Humber Real Estate Salesperson Program is the RECO-approved pre-registration education path that qualifies you to register as a real estate salesperson in Ontario. Humber Polytechnic took over from OREA in 2021 as the largest of four approved providers (alongside Algonquin College, Fleming College, and Career College Group). The program covers 5 salesperson courses, 2 simulation assessments, and concludes with Course 5: Getting Started before you can register with RECO.

How long does the Humber Real Estate program take?

Most candidates complete the Humber Real Estate Salesperson Program in 9 to 18 months. The program is self-paced with each course typically requiring 80 to 120 hours of study time. Full-time students often finish in 9 to 12 months; part-time students working a regular job usually take 12 to 18 months. There is a maximum 24-month window to complete the entire pre-registration phase.

How much does the Humber Real Estate program cost?

The Humber Real Estate Salesperson Program tuition is approximately $4,795 CAD for the full pre-registration program (including all 5 courses, 2 simulations, and exam fees). Add RECO registration ($590), Errors and Omissions insurance ($450 to $550), and local board membership ($500 to $1,200/year) — total to start practising is $6,500 to $9,200.

What courses are in the Humber Real Estate program?

The Humber Real Estate Salesperson Program contains 5 courses plus 2 simulation assessments: Course 1: Real Estate Essentials, Simulation 1, Course 2: Residential Real Estate Transactions, Course 3: Additional Residential Topics, Simulation 2, Course 4: Commercial Real Estate Transactions, and Course 5: Getting Started. ExamAce provides practice questions for all of them.

What is the pass rate for Humber Real Estate exams?

Humber does not publish official course-level pass rates. Anecdotally, Course 1 (Real Estate Essentials) has the highest first-attempt fail rate due to its volume of legal and regulatory content. Simulations are widely reported as the most difficult assessments because they require applying multiple concepts to scenario-based questions rather than recalling individual facts. Most students who study consistently with practice questions pass on their first or second attempt.

What happens if I fail a Humber Real Estate exam?

You can rewrite a failed Humber course exam after a brief waiting period (typically 14 days). Each retake costs $50 to $150 depending on which exam. You have a maximum of 3 attempts per course exam — failing all 3 means you must restart that course. Most candidates pass within 1 to 2 attempts when they use proper exam preparation between attempts.

Can I take the Humber Real Estate program online?

Yes. The Humber Real Estate Salesperson Program is delivered online and is fully self-paced. You access course materials, assignments, and practice questions through Humber's student portal at study.humber.ca. Course exams can be taken in-person at Humber's testing centres in Toronto or via remote-proctored online sessions, depending on the course.

Do I need a Humber education to become a real estate agent in Ontario?

No — you need a RECO-approved education, and Humber is one of four approved providers (Humber Polytechnic, Algonquin College, Fleming College, Career College Group). All four deliver content based on the same RECO competency framework. Humber is the largest and most-recognized provider but is not required.

When can I start the Humber Real Estate program?

Humber offers continuous open enrolment for the Real Estate Salesperson Program — you can start any time of year. Once you pass the Real Estate Admission Test (REAT) and register, you have immediate access to Course 1.

What is the difference between Humber Polytechnic and Humber College?

They are the same institution. Humber rebranded from "Humber College" to "Humber Polytechnic" in 2024 to reflect its expanded research and applied-degree programs. The Real Estate Salesperson Program is unchanged — same content, same regulatory standing, same RECO approval.

Does ExamAce cover all Humber real estate courses?

Yes. ExamAce includes prep for all 4 salesperson courses (Course 1 through Course 4), both simulation exams (Sim 1 and Sim 2), the REAT Admission Test, Course 5, broker exams, and all 14 RECO Continuing Education courses — 26 products in total.

Is ExamAce the same as the official Humber course material?

No. ExamAce is an independent exam prep platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Humber Polytechnic or RECO in any way. Our questions are built from the official RECO competency profile — the same competency standard all approved providers must follow.

Does ExamAce cover Algonquin, Fleming, and Career College Group too?

Yes. Because all approved Ontario real estate education providers (Humber, Algonquin, Fleming, Career College Group) must deliver content based on the same RECO competency profile, ExamAce practice questions are relevant regardless of which provider you use.

How many questions does the actual Humber exam have?

Each Humber salesperson course exam has 50 multiple-choice questions with a 2-hour time limit. The passing score is 75% (38 of 50 correct). Each simulation exam also has 50 questions. ExamAce gives you hundreds of practice questions per course so you build confidence well beyond the minimum.

Is REAT Prep really free on ExamAce?

Yes. The Real Estate Admission Test (REAT) prep course on ExamAce is completely free — no credit card required. Sign up and start studying immediately.

How many hours per week should I study for the Humber Real Estate exam?

Most candidates who pass on the first attempt study 10 to 15 hours per week per course over 6 to 8 weeks. That works out to roughly 80 to 120 hours per course. A consistent daily routine — 2 hours weekdays plus longer weekend sessions — outperforms last-minute cramming because the content is volume-heavy and concept-dependent.
